How You Can Be The Best Person You Can Be
Self awareness is a major part of personal development. You must pay attention to what you do on a daily basis and what you can and should improve upon. Self awareness is also a wonderful tool to learn more about you. When you become self aware, strengths and faults will begin to surface and you will be forced to reckon with them.
For those of us who are gamers, organization is also important. You need to keep your entertainment area clear and organized. Cluttered entertainment areas can actually be hazards that can make you fall or cause electrical shocks. Keep your cords and systems organized, don't leave the cords out for people yo fall over. Likewise, with controllers. Keep your games in one area, preferably drawers or cabinets. Most importantly, make sure that you don't have overloaded outlets.
Do what you can to stop nagging people if that is a habit that you have. This does nothing but annoy everyone and it makes you appear both unprofessional and someone nobody wants to be around. If you need something done or something is not done correctly, speak nicely to the person and express what needs to happen. They'll appreciate the kindness and will most likely try to fulfill your request because you did not irritate them by nagging.
Another thing you can consider when you are trying to better yourself, your career and your perspectives and outlooks on life is to live life for yourself! Do not consider what other people may want you to do, say or act as this inhibits your own individual growth on so many levels.
Don't ride your path to personal development on a high horse. Taking the enlightened path is great, but you also must work to understand why we sometimes take the low road in order to minimize the time you spend on it. You can't deal with these instincts without first acknowledging them. Remember that no one ever leaves them behind completely.
Confide in a friend. Clue someone that you trust in on your goals and turn to them when you want reassuring praise for your progress. A true friend can also provide polite reminders that you need to work a little harder. Being accountable has a way of making us work more diligently to accomplish our goals.
You can contribute to a more loving and fulfilling relationship with your partner by making an effort to clearly state your specific needs and expectations as they relate to showing appreciation for one another. Yes, you love your partner dearly, but you do not share the same brain. He or she should not have to guess when it comes to your wants and needs. In fact, this concept can be readily applied to your work and family relationships as well.
Do not allow yourself to resent your present life by grading it against the future and all of the things that you have not yet been able to achieve. Instead, look for ways to link your future to your present. Determine how well your current situation lends itself as a starting point for all the specific things you hope to someday experience.
One of the most important things to remember actually comes from a Christian prayer. Accept what you cannot change, and change what is within your power. These two concepts may be easy to incorporate, but the third, understanding the difference between these two situations, may be a bit more difficult.
Be selfless. If you start to care for and help others more, you will notice you begin to sacrifice your self. This is when you can get to know the true you better, and see what needs to be changed a little, and what is good just the way it is.
Remember not to measure yourself based solely on your performances. Benchmarks, goals and achievements are all great things, but when you base your self-worth merely on these aspects you are setting yourself up for failure later in life. Try to develop yourself as a complete person, including in your social and family life.
Never give up! Personal development is a life long adventure, and there will be peaks and valleys. At the worst times don't falter, just continue to push through no matter how difficult it may be. These are the moments that will end up defining you as a person so view these moments in that light and persevere.
When you set personal development goals, set them slightly above where you feel comfortable. It's that extra 5% on top of what you feel you can already accomplish that will make you the better person. You'll realize how deep the well of ability is inside of you when you finally reach this seemingly out of reach goal.
Reduce the amount of stress in your life by eating right. Avoid the usual junk food, which can actually lead to stress by making you feel guilty. Eat a balanced, healthy diet every day and it will actually fight stress. You will look better, and more importantly, you will feel better.
To get the most out of life avoid procrastination at all costs. Putting something off for the future just means you'll never get around to doing it. The first step is always the hardest, but once you've started doing something important you'll find it gets easier and easier to keep going.
Acknowledge the positive steps you are taking right now. Completely focusing on the negative makes you feel depressed, and like you can't accomplish anything. Instead, give yourself credit for who you are, where you're at, and what you're striving to be. Giving yourself a pat on the back is important, and you won't succeed without doing so.
A really great way to be self aware is to document each and every day. Always keep a journal or notepad on you and write about what, in detail, has happened throughout that day. The more often you write, the more accurate your account will be. Look back and read over the diary often; things to be proud of or even ashamed of will begin to stand out over time. Work on what you don't like and in the end you will be happy about your new attitude.
